Spelling ch. soft sh and hard k

Year 6 have been investigating words with a ch in them to see if the it is a soft or hard sound.

We found that many words originating in French have the soft ch, such as chef and chalet.

 

English

In today’s lesson, we have been practising our dialogue between two characters. We have then used this to support our writing between the characters Odin and Gunnar from our class text Viking Boy.

Drawing Club

The children are making fantastic progress in their independent writing here are some examples of the independent writing they have produced in drawing club.

This week in maths we have been consolidating our learning of 1 more 1 less. The children have worked really hard to show their learning and use of the language relating to more and less.

Hockey

In our first hockey lesson this week, we  practised holding the stick correctly whilst dribbling.

Practical Spelling

Today we used the playground to carry out a practical spelling activity looking at words with ‘ough’ letter strings and the different sounds represented by these.
