Remote Offer

On 29th March 2022, the DfE (Department for Education) issued guidance to schools with regard to them providing its children with a remote education offer in circumstances when they are unable to attend school in-person.

This might include:

A. Occasions when school leaders decide that it is not possible for their setting to open safely, or that opening would contradict guidance from local or central government.

B. Occasions when individual pupils, for a limited duration, are unable to physically attend their school but are able to continue learning, for example pupils with an infectious illness.

As a result of this guidance, please find below an explanation of what Hindsford will provide if one of the above occasions occurs.

A – The school is closed to all pupils.

Access to the Internet:

Each year, the school carries out an IT parent/carer audit and therefore are aware if there are any families that do not have access to the internet. For families, without internet access, a folder with work in it will be provided and the class teacher will communicate with the pupil on the phone each day with regard to the completion of the work. This folder will either be delivered to the pupil by a member of staff or will be available for collection from the school office.

Submitting Work:

Work completed by the pupil is to be submitted via dojo on the pupil’s profile page. If the work is submitted sent before 3.30pm, feedback will be given on the same day. If after 3.30pm, feedback will be given the next day.

Feedback will take the form of a comment made by the teacher in response to the work submitted. This may include a next step for the pupil to consider to further develop their work.

B – An individual pupil is unable to attend school in-person.

If unwell, the pupil will not be expected to complete any work during this period of time. However, if they are well enough, then the following work will be set for the child to complete at home. This will be communicated via class dojo.

The teacher will post one English lesson per day and an explanation of how to complete the work set. This will either be by a written instruction or a screen rec recording. The class teacher may also select to zoom the child into the English lesson if it is appropriate on this day.

The teacher will post a link to a White Rose Maths Unit of Work which will provide the child with a video and activities linked to the unit of work that the children are completing in school. The class teacher may also select to zoom the child into the Maths lesson if it is appropriate on this day.

The teacher will post one other subjects lesson per day (History/Geography/Art/DT/Music/Science/French/PE/IT etc) and an explanation of how to complete the work set. This will either be by a written instruction or a screen rec recording. The class teacher may also select to zoom the child into the lesson if it is appropriate on this day.

In addition, to the three lesson above, the class teacher will zoom the child into the class for Class Worship or Class Read each day.

Also, during the day, the child should:

1) Read their reading book for 20 minutes.

2) Practise their weekly spellings for 15 minutes.

3) Go on TT Rock stars (KS1) / Numbot for 20 minutes (KS2).
